Safety Tips for C-Arm Use

Many concerns come into mind when speaking of the risks of radiation. The best way to protect your patients and staff from these dangers is to safely follow some guidelines. Whether you own new medical equipment or Used Medical Imaging Equipment such as Used C-Arm Machines, safety should always be a priority.

  • Use a low dose setting when using your Refurbished C-Arm Machine
  • Lower patients exposure by  capturing intermittent images with pulse fluoroscopy
  • When you position the X-Ray far away from the tube, but close to the image intensifier you reduce the exposure to radiation.
  • Decreasing the field size on the X-ray also reduces exposure to radiation

Protective gear such as lead aprons and shields can also help reduce the risk of exposure to radiation. Wearing protective glasses is a must and the C-Arm drapes help minimize the danger of scatter. Always be aware of monitor exposure and take the steps necessary to monitor staff tags in case the exposure increases with due time.

Refurbished C-Arm Machines must be evaluated and maintained at least twice a year by a radiation tech to guarantee their functionality. As these systems age, it is normal that the exposure decreases. In conclusion, a fully trained staff is key when handling this type of Medical Imaging Equipment.
