Today April 7th is World Health Day, and this year in particular the World Health Organization chooses to
highlight nurses and midwives everywhere. These healthcare workers give their all to care for patients like moms-to-be and their newborns. The World Health Organization (WHO) chose to celebrate and commemorate this year’s Health Day to these extraordinary healthcare workers!
When this organization was founded in 1945, officials from different countries suggested they stay an independent organization, free from government power. A sum of 61 countries make part of this great alliance, and in 1949 it was declared that April 7th would commemorate World Health Day. Every year, a different theme or field of work in the medical industry is celebrated and acknowledged for their hard work.
