Important Parts of a CT Scanner

CT  Scanners are helpful imaging devices known to provide great quality images and scans. Having them in your facility contributes to the well-being of your patients. If you´re looking to invest in a Refurbished CT Scanner, or a Used CT Scanner doesn’t hesitate to contact us at Medilab Global. Before looking any further, we recommend you learn more about these imaging systems.

Every CT Scanner has the following parts:

  • Gantry
  • X-Ray Generator
  • The Cooling System
  • The Slip Rings

When you process an image, you will also come across a few steps. Data Acquisition, Image Reconstruction, and Image Display.

The Gantry

This key component creates and detects X-rays. This ring-shaped part of the CT Scanner comes in different sizes usually ranging from 70-90 cm. This part can also be directed as needed and includes a microphone for clear communication with the patient.

The Generator

It generates high voltage and transmits it to the X-Ray Tube. This regulates the intensity of the beam. The power capacity determines the exposure range, depending on each system.

The Cooling System

These regulate temperature fluctuations and are also located in the gantry. They can be seen in the form of filters or blowers that perform oil to heat exchange.

The Slip Rings

These are electromagnetic devices that keep the power throughout the whole system. These let the frame freely rotate across the surface, making helical scan modes possible.
