A bone densitometry scan or a DXA (Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry) is used to measure bone density and mineral content. As we get older, some people can develop osteopenia, osteoporosis, or be at fracture risk, due to low bone density. A normal x-ray exam will not determine how weak the bones may be, yet a bone densitometry test is very important when it comes to preventing decreasing bone density and treating these issues at a more effective pace. Here at Medilab Global, we provide facilities with bone densitometers to help early diagnosis in patients worldwide. We have all types of pre-owned medical imaging equipment and used bone density machines for sale!

In preparation for this exam, it is important to have not consumed any type of calcium supplement in the past 4-6 hours. This can increase the levels of mineral content in the bones and produce a false diagnosis. It is also important to let your doctor or technician know if in the past few weeks you have gotten another type of imaging exam done that requires dye or contrast to be involved, as it can interfere with the results. After a few questions regarding family history and bone health, you will most likely proceed to the test.

During this test, the technician will ask you to lay on your back and you will be told to be completely still. It is very important not to move during the scan since this can affect the detail of the images. Depending on the body part being analyzed, the arm of the bone densitometer machine will pass over your body to scan with two different x-ray beams. This will most likely be the hip, wrist, or lower spine. In about 10-20 minutes the scan will be complete and this will result in a translated density measurement that will be interpreted by your physician or densitometrist. Bone health is extremely important and getting regular screenings done can lower the risk of osteoporosis.

Pediatric offices around the world will soon be able to provide more comfort for their kid patients with help from the new LEGO MRI model. These miniature MRI scanners provide kids with pre- examinal familiarity. There is no doubt that children everywhere are hesitant to doctor’s visits, so the company launched this initiative to help cope with test anxiety.

Having these models in the room before undergoing a procedure can help kids better understand how these great machines work. MRI machines can be very intimidating even for grown men and women. The model consists of a doctor, a technician, and a patient waiting to be scanned. Children can play with the figures and get a closer look at the MRI scanner and all its important parts. Here at Medilab Global we buy and sell MRI Machines and can guide you to pick your best fit.

Erik Ullerlund, a LEGO group employee, had the idea to create the model and the company is looking to donate these to Radiology departments everywhere. Initiatives like this one tenderize the idea of having to go through medical procedures at a young age. The post went viral when it was shared through Twitter recently and gained likes and comments from patients worldwide. This model will not be available for purchase as it was thought out to be donated. Kids can be sure to find a friendly face next time they go in for a scan!

February is National Cancer Prevention Month and that reminds us each year to get our screenings done. It is proven that cancer does not wait, so neither should we. Early screenings and preventive checkups are the best way to do so. Besides living a healthy and active life, we should make sure to visit our doctor regularly to prevent any type of cancer from going too far. Today we will list some of the screenings you can anticipate to complete in order to detect many types of cancer, and the medical imaging equipment used in doing so.

Breast Cancer

To detect any type of breast cancer in the body, it is necessary to get a breast cancer screening done. Always talk to your doctor about the best cancer screening for you informed and shared decision making is very important. A typical breast cancer screening will entail having a mammogram or a breast MRI done. Mammogram’s take detailed images of the breast with an X-Ray to scan for cancer. This is the best way to find cancer for women in the screening age. Breast MRI uses magnets along with radio waves to create the image of the scan. At Medilab Global we provide facilities with mammography units, we have mammo’s for sale and MRI machines that guarantee these provide top technology to their patients.

Lung Cancer

A low dose CT Scan will be required when screening for lung cancer. This means only a small amount of radiation will be used to create the image of your lungs. People between 50 and 80 years old with a smoking history within the last 15 years should regularly screen for lung cancer since it is one of the leading causes of this disease. At Medilab Global we are committed to cancer prevention and we have CT scanner machines that help detect lung and colon cancer.

Colon Cancer

This type of cancer can also be early detected by completing a CT Scan. With a virtual colonoscopy or a CT colonoscopy, an image is created and can detect polyps or other abnormalities inside of the colon. If any polyps are detected, a regular colonoscopy can be performed to remove them. People with a risk of colon cancer due to family history or any bowel disease are recommended to start early screening anywhere between 45 and 50 years old.

It is without a doubt that early screening can help save lives. The earlier one detects any abnormalities in the body, the better the outcome in the long run. This month, let us be reminded that with one screening our lives and the lives of others can change instantly.

There are a few things that we can imagine when a Doctor says it's time to get an MRI. Medical imaging equipment tends to be a bit intimidating due to its size and the overall results one could get from a scan. In order to understand these MRI Machines, we must first get to know them and how they work. In today’s blog we will go more into depth about how they work and what we must know beforehand.

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and as the name says, these great machines work with powerful magnets and software that can diagnose medical injuries or a patient's response to a certain treatment. An MRI can provide an image or a detailed view inside soft tissues and other structures or organs inside the body. These include the head, brain, neck, breasts, heart, circulatory system, and other organs. At Medilab Global we provide facilities with used medical imaging equipment and we have MRI machines for sale.

Unlike CT Scanners or X-Ray machines, MRI machines do not use radiation to create these images. The patient must lay down on the screening table which is then inserted into the center of the opening that carries the magnet. The magnetic field that is created then interacts with the protons and hydrogen atoms inside of the body. These are then detected by a receiver inside of the MRI machine and the software will create the images.

The scan takes an average of 20-45 minutes and you can expect to hear different sounds throughout the process. Once this is completed, a Radiologist will revise the images and help diagnose any issues. At our company, we assure our customers with high-quality used or refurbished medical imaging machines that help doctors everywhere diagnose and treat their patients.

Within all medical imaging machines, the C-Arm is one of the most useful to doctors everywhere. These high-resolution X-Ray machines allow doctors to immediately examine the human body and bone. The C- shaped arm makes it possible to connect the X-Ray source and the X-ray detector to one another. C-Arm machines are mainly used in surgical, orthopedic, and emergency procedures. In this short blog, we will go over the important parts of a C-Arm system.

Workstation Unit

The workstation is the main source of operation on a C-Arm machine. It controls everything from movements and positioning to enhancement software and radiographic settings. This is the part that directly operates the medical imaging machine.

X-Ray Generator

The X-Ray tubes on a C-Arm machine make it possible to generate the X-Rays. The operating system can be modified by the operator and the generator is controlled by the workstation. The risk of radiation is low due to the exposure time.

The Imaging System

The C-Arm is one of the most practical types of medical imaging machines. It can be easily controlled and used in various ways like surgical procedures, urology, cardiology, and orthopedic procedures. C-Arms allow multiple positioning, therefore making it easier to scan patients.

Image Intensifier

This part of the C-Arm machine guarantees the conversion of X-Rays into visible light at a higher intensity than fluorescent screens do. After the scan is complete, the image will appear on the monitor. The intensifier will most likely degrade over a period of time therefore it must be properly serviced. These machines are essential to medical diagnostics everywhere!

There are many important factors to consider when purchasing a CT Scanner. First thing is first, so deciding whether buying used medical imaging equipment is for you will be at the top of the list. At Medilab Global we have CT Scanner machines for sale and a wide range of options to choose from. Most facilities have fixed CT Scanner machines and some have opted for mobile CT Scanners. If mobile is what you're looking for, at Medilab Global you will be sure to find a mobile CT Scanner for sale! Having a site plan and appropriate configurations for your machine can help benefit your facility and in the long run, this can help save time and money on additional costs. We advise having qualified floor plans, approved plumbing, and power requirements as well as shielding and other safety measures in your facility before your medical imaging equipment arrives. It is also necessary to check surrounding rooms and walls before installing the imaging room.

Shielding

Due to the risk of radiation, it is extremely important to shield ceilings and floors close to the CT Scan room. Technicians and patients are also exposed to radiation, therefore it is important to use portable lead shields. The walls in the scan room, the doors, and the viewing windows should all be protected as well.

Gantry

This part of the CT Scanner requires running cold water. In order to supply the heat exchanger, cold water has to be available on site. If there is no cold-water available, there must be a heat exchanger cabinet which is then cooled by an outdoor cooling system.

Temperature Control

The room temperature must be maintained at all times in the CT Exam Room. It is important to keep it anywhere between 64 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The rest of the room can be set to a lower temperature ranging from 59-75 degrees. Heat on one side of the room should not intervene with the temperature in the rest of the room.

Power Supply

The power supply in the suite must meet all local and national requirements in order to function. These will vary depending on system requirements and power consumption. We also advise having an emergency power off button.

Once you consult all of these specifications and record your construction progress, you can set up a completion date for your room and call us at Medilab Global to schedule the delivery of your medical imaging machine!

As COVID numbers rise worldwide due to new variants, we start to see some of the same issues we had at the beginning of the pandemic. Concern at grocery store aisles and uncertainty all around for what's to come has consumers preoccupied. Some of the main reasons for these shortages include heavy winter storms across the US, transportation issues, Omicron, and labor shortages across the country.

Global Warming

We are starting to see weather changes across the globe affect the food industry. With heavy rain damaging food crops in the tropics, to the increase in pricing for animal products like meat, poultry, and dairy products everywhere. Not to mention the rise in importation fees worldwide. Some of these factors have largely affected consumers when it comes to food availability.

Transportation Delays

Employment levels are at a downfall lately which directly affects the economy and therefore the food supply chain. Heavy weather changes also affect the roads on which food is transported daily. Transportation companies are longing to hire more employees but they're not meeting demands. The Government seeks to fund the trucking industry to attract more workers with more benefits in mind.

Omicron Variant

This highly infectious Covid variant has the workforce on a downfall. The number of daily cases keeps rising and it's keeping employers everywhere powerless. Employees are on isolation restriction therefore labor shortages take place in almost every industry that requires people to be present at work.

Staying Afloat

Although we see how most of these factors are affecting our food supply, some industries are staying afloat with inventory. Preventing shortages by focusing on buying or stocking more products in case some of these issues present themselves is a great start. In the medical industry, for example, demand for equipment has risen in the past year and a half. Hospitals and clinics have a higher demand to attend patients with old and new health complications.

At Medilab Global we are fully stocked to help fill the needs of hospitals and clinics everywhere. We focus on selling Medical Imaging Equipment, whether it's used Medical Imaging Equipment or Refurbished Medical Imaging Equipment. We specialize in finding the right option for your upgrade depending on your needs.
